Inspired by Warhol

As a working Artist I admired how he blurred the Line between Fine Art and Commercial Art. He made the link between the two, accepted and accessible. There is often a lot of privilege and elitism towards artists working commercially. I believe commercial Art can be as important as it reflects modern life and shapes society just as much as fine art. So we must not overlook the potential for art to be more inclusive and reflective of contemporary culture.

Half Full

The inspiration for my piece was to create a ‘glass half full’ concept by utilising he boldness of my work and the fluidity of Warhol’s, which I felt would complement one another. The result is a combination of past and present, symbolising how the glass is half full when different eras and perspectives unite. Warhol’s repetition of familiar symbols often reflected societal norms, while my dynamic forms seek to celebrate individuality and empowerment. By revealing how contrasting perspectives whether bold or subtle, traditional or modern can coexist and enrich one another to create a more optimistic view of our world.
