Absolut Vodka is community made vodka — grown, distilled and bottled through a process we control, tracing the very product that is in your hand all the way back to our farmers.
Unlike many other spirit brands, every aspect of Absolut — from ingredients to production — comes from one community.
One Source
One source is our production philosophy. The majority of our production journey takes place in and around the small village of Åhus in Sweden.
We control the full production from seed to bottle, starting with the process of growing winter wheat.
The characteristics and quality of the raw ingredients shine through in every sip. Every seed of wheat and every drop of water comes from Southern Sweden, from one community. It’s why Absolut Vodka tastes the same, wherever in the world you’re drinking it.
Winter Wheat
All of our winter wheat is locally grown in partnership with a community of around 300 farmers in and around Åhus, Sweden.
Pristine Water
We tap our water locally, from our own wells more than 100 meters deep. It’s been filtered through Swedish bedrock for thousands of years, giving it a natural mouthfeel you can’t recreate in a lab. Since water is the main ingredient in vodka, that’s no small detail.
One Community
Absolut Vodka is crafted through the dedication of generations of farmers and distillers who share the same values, trust, and traditions passed down through time.
It Takes a Village
Absolut Vodka is the collective effort of an entire community. Our winter wheat is sown, grown, harvested, and delivered by our community of around 300 farms in southern Sweden.
We work together on practices like crop rotation — not because it’s trendy, but because this is our backyard, and we’ve always done it this way.
Our Cultivation Concept
The concept sets strict quality protocols for the wheat our partner farmers supply. Rigorous checks take place for each wheat delivery to ensure the correct moisture level and wheat cleanliness to name just a few quality parameters.
An important practice for our partnering farmers is called crop rotation. This means that they rotate the crops between, for example, rapeseed, wheat, and peas on a yearly basis. Crop rotation keeps the soil healthy, minimizing the need and use of fertilizers and pesticides.
Back to the farm
Every day we produce Absolut Vodka, the stillage — the nutrient-rich, porridge-like by-product of our initial distillation — is used to feed 250,000 pigs and cows on neighboring farms.
Our iconic glass bottle
Our apothecary-inspired bottle shape has become as iconic as what’s inside it — vodka from one community in southern Sweden. Over the decades, that shape has inspired artists and become a canvas for collaborations of its own.
One Superb Vodka
In the true spirit of Absolut, we are constantly striving to make our superb vodka even better.
