Few flavors and aromas are as delectable as vanilla. But when paired with apple and ginger, it’s irresistible.
Introducing the Absolut Vanilia Vain, an easy-to-make built drink that mixes Absolut Vanilia – our versatile vanilla-flavored vodka – fresh apple juice and ginger ale.
While this drink is a hit year-round, there’s something charming about sipping an Absolut Vanilia Vain outdoors during the spring or fall.
Ingredients
- 45 ml Absolut Vanilia
- 75 ml Apple Juice
- 75 ml Ginger Ale
- 1 Apple Twist
- Ice Cubes
What You’ll Need
- Highball Glass
- Knife
- Jigger (or measuring tool)
- Peeler
How to Mix
- Fill a pre-chilled highball glass with ice cubes.
- Use a jigger to measure and pour 45 ml Absolut Vanilia into the glass.
- Prepare fresh apple juice using a juicer or blender. When cutting your apples for juicing or blending, save a strip for garnishing later.
- Juice or blend your apples, then use a jigger to measure 75 ml apple juice and pour it into the glass.
- Use the jigger once again to measure and add 75 ml of ginger ale.
- Take an apple and use a peeler to create a long strip of apple peel, wrap it around a straw to form a twist, then place it on top of your drink as a garnish.
Variations of an Absolut Vanilia Vain
- Swap the apple twist garnish it for apple wedge instead. Then, keep mixing it up by adding a sprinkle of ground cinnamon – come on, apple, vanilla and cinnamon? It’s basically dessert! Alternatively, garnish with a cinnamon stick instead of ground cinnamon. Sure, it looks great, but the aroma is even better!
- Looking for another garnish idea for your Absolut Vanilia Vain? Finish with a vanilla pod to emphasize those vanilla flavors. Better still, how about a vanilla pod and some ground cinnamon? Or a vanilla pod and an apple wedge?

Whether it’s lemon or apple, making a twist garnish is simple: peel a long strip with a peeler or knife, wrap it around the length of a straw to create a spiral shape, and voilà – your drink’s got an elegant twist!
You don’t need to, but we highly recommend it. The easiest and best way to make apple juice is with a centrifugal juicer. Using a juicer to make your cocktails will take your drinks to a whole new level of flavor and mouthfeel.
If you don’t have a juicer, a blender works well too. Cut your apples into chunks and then pop them into a blender with a splash of water. Next, strain the pulp through a cheesecloth and now you’ve got fresh apple juice.
We recommend using ginger ale for this particular drink. Ginger ale is sweeter and less spicy than ginger beer, which works well with the vanilla-flavored vodka and apple juice.
