Add a twist
The beauty of punch is that it’s highly adaptable to your tastes.
- While our recipe uses Absolut Mandrin, why not swap Mandarin for Absolut Passionfruit or Absolut Mango?
- Play around with the mixers too. If you’re not a fan of ginger beer, consider lemonade as an alternative for less fire and more zing.
- Don’t be afraid to switch up your garnish. Maraschino cherries pair well with ginger beer and can add some sweetness and color to your punch. You can use other fruits, such as pineapple or passion fruit to add some brightness and flavor to your cocktail.
Common questions
Still looking for tips and inspiration for Absolut Punch? We’ll leave you with these common questions.
Traditionally, punch has to include the following five components:
Water
Spice
Sugar
Citrus
Modern punch drinks, such as ours, don’t necessarily contain all of these ingredients, but they still enjoy the fusion of flavors to bring you something you’ll enjoy. We may have swapped water and sugar for fruit juice, and spice for ginger beer, but the effect is the same.
No one knows the history of the word ‘punch’ for sure, but many people think it comes from the Hindi word panch which means ‘five’, a reference to the five ingredients needed for the drink.
The cocktail was brought to Europe in the 17th century by British traders and soldiers returning from India, however, the origin of the name is still debated.
If you’re creating punch cocktails, then vodka is a classic for a reason. Flavored vodka from Absolut allows you to play with the makeup of your cocktail and tailor the flavor to your preferences. Explore our range of vodkas to find the perfect match for your punch.
