The Pears Martini is a fresh fruit martini (aka neo-martini). It’s sweet, sophisticated, and super easy to make using Absolut Pears and just three other simple ingredients. Just measure, shake, pour and enjoy!
The simplicity of this recipe goes a long way. Ricardo ‘Rico’ Dynan, Bartender and Absolut Global Brand Ambassador swears by its subtle, harmonious flavor:
“Sweet yet balanced. Candy-ish, because of that pear flavor. It’s a sublime drink – a showstopper for any dinner party.”
Ingredients
- 45 ml Absolut Pears
- 25 ml Simple Syrup
- 15 ml Lemon Juice
- 15 ml Pear Purée
- 1 twist Lemon Zest or Slice of Pear
- Ice Cubes
What You’ll Need
- Jigger (or other Measuring Instrument)
- Boston Shaker
- Martini Glass
- Citrus Elbow
- Hawthorne Strainer
- Fine Mesh Strainer
- Paring Knife
- Peeler
How to Mix
- Cut one lemon in half using a paring knife.
- Use a citrus elbow to squeeze the juice of half a lemon (15ml) into a jigger or small measuring jug. Don’t throw away that rind though – you’ll need it later.
- Next, pour the fresh lemon juice into a Boston shaker.
- Measure and pour pear purée (15ml) into the shaker.
- Measure and pour in simple syrup (25ml).
- Then, pour 45ml of Absolut Pears.
- Fill the shaker with ice cubes and shake vigorously.
- Place a Hawthorne strainer over the larger tin of your Boston shaker.
- Double-strain the cocktail by pouring it through a fine mesh strainer directly into a martini glass.
- Use a peeler to peel a lemon twist from the lemon half you set aside earlier.
- Squeeze the lemon twist over your cocktail before placing it directly into your glass.
Add a Twist
Absolut Pears works great with a wide range of flavors. With just a few ingredient swaps, you can create a whole new vibe!
- Try an Elderflower and Pear Martini, just by switching out Absolut Pear for Absolut Vodka, elderflower cordial, and pear juice. If you like it sweeter, trade the cordial for elderflower liqueur. For some subtle spice and aromatic richness, add a dash or two of aromatic bitters.
- In colder months, cinnamon or clove simple syrup provides a cozy fall warmth, while ginger syrup brings gentle, fortifying heat to the mix. Try vanilla syrup for a creamy, rich depth, or muddle some sage leaves for a fragrant, herbal note.
Common questions
Still looking for tips and inspiration for the Absolut Pears Martini? We’ll leave you with these common questions.
You can muddle and mash ripe, fresh pears to make your own purée if you like. Just muddle enough fresh pear to roughly match the measurements suggested for the purée in this recipe.
“Make sure to taste the drink before serving in case you need to balance it out with more simple syrup or lemon juice,” advises Michael Bergström, Drinks Expert from Bartenders’ Choice Awards.
“If you don’t own a muddler or simply want to save yourself from mashing up fresh pears, go on and use purée”, he says. “Just keep in mind that purées are often lightly sweetened, so you might want to adjust the recipe using lemon juice and simple syrup.”
“No, you can serve it in a small wine glass or over ice in a shorter glass,” says Michael. Don’t let your creativity or preferences stop you from experimenting and serving up the drink you want to serve.
“Of course! You can use any fruit to create a fresh fruit martini. The original idea was based on a vodka martini with the addition of fresh fruit and a touch of sugar to enhance the flavors,” shares Michael Bergström.
In other words, you can pick your favorite fruit, mash it up, and shake it with the rest of your ingredients.
