ABSOLUT CITRON was good news for “vodka on the rocks with a twist of lemon” fans back in the 80’s (and there were lots of them). More specifically ABSOLUT CITRON was launched in 1988, nine years after ABSOLUT ORIGINAL and two years after the first flavored family member ABSOLUT PEPPER. The success was major among the twist-of-lemon-people, but it also became the main ingredient in the blockbuster drink “Cosmopolitan”.
ABSOLUT CITRON is made exclusively from natural ingredients, and unlike most other flavored vodkas, it doesn’t contain any added sugar. To put it short and simple: ABSOLUT CITRON is smooth and mellow, with a fresh fruity lemon and lime character and a note of lemon peel.
In 1879, Lars Olsson Smith introduced the continuous distillation with which he made Absolut Rent Bränvin (Absolute Pure Vodka). Instead of the usual three or four times, the vodka was distilled an infinite number of times. ABSOLUT CITRON is made the same way, the only difference is the taste of lemon. And, like the rest of the family, it’s produced in Åhus, L.O. Smith’s birth town. Since nothing of that will change, neither will the true taste of ABSOLUT CITRON.
The main ingredients in ABSOLUT CITRON are ABSOLUT VODKA and citrus flavor. ABSOLUT VODKA is made from water and winter wheat. The water comes from a deep well in Åhus where it’s protected from impurities. The winter wheat is also grown in Åhus and differs from other crops: it’s sown one fall, and harvested the next one. Days in between it grows under the Swedish snow developing its hard grain. Also, the use of fertilizers is minimized. Though lemon is the main flavor, lime is also added to give ABSOLUT CITRON its perfect character
ABSOLUT CITRON has no problems coping on its own. Just add some ice and it fulfils its original mission perfectly. On the other hand, all fans of “Cosmo” know how great ABSOLUT CITRON tastes accompanied by cranberry juice and Cointreau. Below, you’ll find even more ways of enjoying it!
2 parts ABSOLUT Citron
2 parts Pomegranate Juice
2 parts Pink Grapefruit Juice
1 part Campari
1 part Lime Juice
1 part Passion Fruit Syrup
Shake all ingredients with a lot of ice and strain to an ice filled highball glass. Garnish with a lime wedge
1 part ABSOLUT Citron
2 parts Tonic
Fill a highball glass to the rim with ice cubes. Pour ABSOLUT CITRON and the tonic over the ice. Garnish with a lime wedge.
4 parts ABSOLUT Citron
2 parts Triple Sec
2 parts Lemon Juice
3 parts Cranberry Juice
Shake all ingredients with ice and strain into a chilled cocktail glass. Garnish with either slice of lime or squeeze the oil from a strip of orange zest, held skin downwards and over a flame above the glass.
1 part ABSOLUT Citron
1 part Campari
1 part Red Vermouth
Fill a rocks glass to the rim with ice cubes. Pour all the ingredients over the ice. Garnish with a orange wedge.

1 Squeeze of a Lime Wedge
Fill a highball glass to the rim with ice cubes. Pour ABSOLUT CITRON and the cola over the ice. Garnish with a lime wedge

Simple Syrup
Muddle the fruits with syrup in the bottom o a highball glass. Half fill with ice and add the ABSOLUT CITRON. Stir, fill upp to the rim with more ice and stir again.
