RADIOSHARK – an Absolut Art Bar by Item Idem
Ever imagined what an artist’s party looks like? Colourful, to say the least…
Put your party pants on and say hello to a brand new series of exclusive evenings created by Absolut, where artists conceptualize and host their fantasy party. When given carte blanche to pick the location, decor, soundscape, and cocktails, this simple party format yields dazzling results…
In this inaugural New York-centric series, Absolut collaborated with French-born, NY-based artist, Item Idem (néeCyril Duval). The result? RADIOSHARK – where a little-known Vanderbilt Tennis Club hidden within Grand Central Terminal was transformed into a magical, subaquatic environment.
Each guest was invited to become a part of the experienceby controlling their very own ‘air swimmers’ (to clarify: remote controlled inflatable sharks of every size floating above the party). A jaws-dropping sight, if you will.
As envisioned by Item Idem, the massive room came to life with the help of lighting artist Alex Gvojic’s colorful, hypnotic projections. Art and trend forecasting group, K-HOLE also concocted a soundscape to complete the vibe.
