We apologize
Posted Sunday, April 06, 2008, 7:38:29 PM
During the weekend we have received several comments on the ad published in Mexico. We acknowledge the reactions and debate and want to apologize for the concerns this ad caused. We are truly sorry and understand that the ad has offended several persons. This was not our intention. The ad has been withdrawn as of Friday April 4th and will not be used in the future.
In no way was the ad meant to offend or disparage, or advocate an altering of borders, lend support to any anti-American sentiment, or to reflect immigration issues.
To ensure that we avoid future similar mistakes, we are adjusting our internal advertising approval process for ads that are developed in local markets.
This is a genuine and sincere apology,
By Paula Eriksson, VP Corporate Communications, V&S Absolut Spirits

realistic,
I'm sure that was a good trade off, lose hundreds of thousands of customers for thousands....so go right ahead and drink your absolut and Kaluha, don't get used to it though, they won't be in business much longer.
Meanwhile I'll just enjoy my Tri-tip and Larossa...thanks Italy.

Knock, knock, knock, Where is Lachawkfan, Tom from texas, American, Fulgencio,Eddy, Yank It's only been 10 days, you guys can do better than that? I expect more from an angry American.
I know you guys aren't quitters so please get a second breath, the Republic needs your heroic blogs so you can educate everyone on how Absolut has done irrepairable damage to the American spirit, and how by boycotting this irresponsible liquor company you will get rid of those "cockroach mexicans who are sent by their goverment to ask for handouts , get free education, to commit crimes, set up businesses with no permits and who with no reason whatsoever have this sense of entitlementto this land."
Please return to this blog, your efforts and contribution to save the integrity of the Republic will be greatly appreciated.

I do as well. When there is no more arguments, they usually leave.
My argumetns stand with facts, and yours have been slaughtered. Bottom line is our immigration laws should be enforced just like any other country in the world and the ad these morons published was insulting and alienating to a large portion of their market.

Cheers, lachawkfan.
It's not a matter of like or not like. That's the way it is.
And to Tom, If you read the book I posted...you'll understand my stand better.

"in an absolute world"
What else could it have meant.
Given the fact that many corporations will attempt to
sell out their consumer for a buck, it's no surprise that
yet another company tries to save face.
It't like calling someone a whore, and apologizing,
then saying you did'nt understand the sediment behind it.
They probably thought America would miss it.
It was run in Mexico after all.
Funny how Skyy Vodka gave absolute the buisiness.
Skyy is a true American company. No PR here.
They stuck their necks out for US citizens, and will
probably lose much of the Latino market.
After many thousands of absolut purchases for
parties, outings, weddings, reunions, etc.
Five different families and three generations will
be sipping Skyy.
