In an ABSOLUT World according to Mexico
Posted Friday, April 04, 2008, 5:26:34 PM
The In An Absolut World advertising campaign invites consumers to visualize a world that appeals to them -- one they feel may be more idealized or one that may be a bit "fantastic." As such, the campaign will elicit varying opinions and points of view. We have a variety of executions running in countries worldwide, and each is germane to that country and that population.
This particular ad, which ran in Mexico, was based upon historical perspectives and was created with a Mexican sensibility. In no way was this meant to offend or disparage, nor does it advocate an altering of borders, nor does it lend support to any anti-American sentiment, nor does it reflect immigration issues. Instead, it hearkens to a time which the population of Mexico may feel was more ideal.
As a global company, we recognize that people in different parts of the world may lend different perspectives or interpret our ads in a different way than was intended in that market. Obviously, this ad was run in Mexico, and not the US -- that ad might have been very different.

Generally the officers of the army were indifferent whether the annexation was consummated or not; but not so all of them. For myself, I was bitterly opposed to the measure, and to this day regard the war, which resulted, as one of the most unjust ever waged by a stronger against a weaker nation. It was an instance of a republic following the bad example of European monarchies, in not considering justice in their desire to acquire additional territory.

OH "Deborah" - Debbie as we would say in the U.S. why don't you "stick it where the sun doesn't shine" - as we also say.
It's just an ad.
YEAH.
Just like "ARBEIT MACHT FREI" was "just a banner" above THE ENTRY TO A NAZI DEATH CAMP.
BOYCOTT ABSOLUT.
You moron.

LOL. I personally think American white people will get their knickers in a twist (that's panties in a bunch for the Americans) over just about anything.
There's nothing wrong with the ad. American white people will panic over anything that even remotely challenges their supreme sovereignty over the entire planet, let alone a few million acres in their backyard.

You can write your opinion anywhere and anytime you want, its your right to not remain silent and express your opinion, and if "a company" deleted the response to what mezcal is, just to create polemic, well... it seems that money is the only important thing these days.

According to this Press Release:
http://www.pernod-ricard.com/en/pages/2800/Press-releases/Pernod-Ricard-acquires-Vin-Sprit-and-becomes-the-co-leader-of-the-global-wine-and-spirits-industry.html
Regardless, I will still ONLY be buying and consuming some of the better and higher quality American made vodkas, such as:
The North Dakota made Square One Organic Vodka - http://www.squareonevodka.com/
The great Texas based Tito's Handmade vodka - http://www.titos-vodka.com/
An excellent Colorado made Vodka 14 - http://www.vodka14.com/
And, the most excellent, exclusive, Award Winning American made vodka, hand crafted in Virginia, Cirrus vodka - http://www.cirrusvodka.com/aboutcirrus.html
Pernod-Ricard has made a huge mistake by buying out the V&S Group, but maybe over time, they can recover our American loss of market share, by making and marketing several brands of extremely cheap beers, and/or tequila.
I sure wont be buying ANY of their products EVER again....

Well, well. Now isn't that just TOO convenient. The comment written by "by..." appears, as if it were the first back-and-forth to my mistaken-understanding post. Actually, someone else had corrected me earlier and I had responded to this - interesting what Absolut chooses to delete.
So, "by...", you suggest I haven't read hundreds of the thousands of posts here?! You're WRONG. And foolish to think someone must do so to post an opinion here.
Furthermore, no one must have to speak Spanish (I happen to know 3 other languages) to read and post on an English-language website (SEE Paula Eriksson's introduction).
It is the bigotry/ignorance of others to choose to willfully post in a foreign language (though, in this case, it seems the poster was probably just trying to make a dumb joke...and also tell others NOT TO DRINK ABSOLUT)...as such, as I mentioned earlier, misunderstandings are bound to happen.
This ad, a cooperative effort by Absolut and the ad agency TBWA, was and remains offnesive to many U.S. citizens and Absolut - as other Pernod-Ricard products - deserves to be boycotted.

Mezcal is an alcoholic beverage made from the maguey plant, we need to have all the information before doing comments, not to be that sentimental and take things objectively, if you didnt read the reasons why absolute made that ad, and you dont know spanish, and finally you didnt made an investigation about what mezcal is, you cant make such a statement, by the way im mexican and I love america
