Live Earth harnesses the power of music and film to raise awareness for the climate crisis and to provide simple ways for individuals to solve the problem. On July 7, 2007, Live Earth's eight major events on all seven continents demanded the world's attention and inspired the audience of 2 billion to take action. Sixty award-winning filmmakers were commissioned to create short films to engage the global audience and demonstrate solutions to the climate crisis. The Live Earth Film Series, sponsored by ABSOLUT, was an essential part of the worldwide broadcast in 2007 and will now tour major film festival throughout 2008.
