You’ve mastered the classic martini – now it’s time to take the spice up a notch and make a sultry cocktail with a little heat.

Shaken or stirred, the Vodka Martini has long been the international symbol of classic cool. And in a couple of years, the classic Martini will have been a bar favourite for 150 years old.

The timeless style of what is known as the ‘Martini glass’ with the V-shaped glass made its debut at the Art Deco Exhibition in Paris in 1925. Why is it such a favourite? The iconic long ‘leg’ keeps the drink cold by keeping it away from warming hands. The wide bowl places the surface of the drink directly under the drinker’s nose, ensuring that the aromatic element has the desired effect.

Naturally over time, recipes have been played with and ratios have changed. This recipe below is the classic Absolut Vodka Martini recipe you need to know.
